Pandas For Entertainment

I read in China Daily that 8 pandas will be dispatched to the Olympics for "entertainment".

No, they will not be performing any acrobats.

I know that the Chinese people love their pandas very much. And they do not mean any harm at all to their national treasures.

I think it is just a bit off that the writer listed them down as for entertainment purposes like they are some sort of circus animals.

I watched in Discovery Channel once how they transported the pandas from one place to another. The little bears are treated like celebrities!

Anyway, presenting--PANDA fashions!!! I took these pictures in Xiamen's airport last time.

Really pretty right? Only a bit expensive though.

Long-Haired Girls In Guilin

Guilin is famed not just for the beautiful ribbon terraces but also for the unique ethnic Yao group.

The women belonging to this group live in this village in Long Sheng County--let's just call this the long-haired girls village. :P

They wash their hair in the spring water--their secret to their long, shiny, dandruff-free hair!

Seriously, it's really amazing how they manage it.

They tie it up really neatly into a bun...

Ta-dah!!! Long hair becomes short hair!

Here they are performing for us.
They have this special ethnic dialect.

One of the friendlier girls took this picture with me.

The women can only cut their hair once they turn 16. After which, goodbye beautiful locks! This symbolizes that they are adults already and can look for their lovers.

The hair is not thrown away though. Their grandmothers keep it and make it into an ornamental headdress. Once the girls find a husband, this headdress is given to the men.

That's a really nice tradition, don't you think so?

But of course it would be hard to maintain hair as long as theirs.

3 Pandas--MISSING!!!

There was this big earthquake that hit Sichuan, China last week and cost a lot, a lot, a lot of casualties--including 3 PANDAS that are now missing!!!

This is so sad!!! Besides being cute and adorable, panda bears are endangered animals. There are like 1,590 pandas only in the wild living in China. That's minus 3 already!!!

So make that around 1,587 pandas existing only.

This is really heartbreaking~~ When I was in Guilin earlier, they only have TWO pandas there!!!

Introducing...Yang Yang and Yue Yue!

They're getting married.

翻滾吧!!!

I'm going gaga over this new show in CTV. It's English title is "Rolling Love" starring Jiro Wang of Fahrenheit's fame and Danson Tang.

As proof that I am starting to get addicted to the show, I embedded Rolling Love's theme song in my blog. Heehee...yeap...that's the one you're hearing right now. :P

You got to watch this show! As of now, there has been two episodes showing, so you haven't missed much if you start this Sunday!!!

The story's really cute. Basically, it is about food, cooking, and yes, let us not forget the love factor~~

Jiro cooks a mean dish of fried rice in the show. Yup!!! FRIED RICE. Like, how simple is that? But because his fried rice is so, so, so delicious, hoards of people line up everyday just to eat at his restaurant.

Danson is this world famous chef who has a beautiful girlfriend-singer to boot. But then she got into this accident and thus robbed her of her eyesight.

Anyway, this is basically your typical love triangle. Like Meteor Garden. Hahahaha...

But forget F4 for a while, I like 唐禹哲's hair better~~ :P

Hahaha...anyway, watch the opening theme of Rolling Love first then maybe you will get hooked on it too!

Guilin's Longji Terraces

Ordinarily, I would be posting a lot, a lot, a lot--seriously, a lot of pictures of my travels.

But my internet connection these past few days is not so ok, ok. Hehehehe...so I'll be little more selective. :P

Here are pictures of the FAMOUS LONGJI TERRACES in Guilin.

These uncles are PAID to carry you. Something like RMB 100+. Actually, the terraces are not hard to climb--if you enjoy hiking and having sweat trickle down your face. :P

Of course I sweated it out. :P

Tadah!!! Houses built on the terraces! I like this picture--so postcard-perfect like, hehehehehe

He's making bean curd. He's not really "for exhibit", so I had to ask permission to take a picture. :P

Climbing the terraces is not free o~

The terraces, which are situated in the Long Sheng County, are like ribbons. Tribes live in the area--look out for the long-haired girls in future posts!

Oh wait, before any one makes some sarcastic comment about a post of the Longji Terraces without pictures of the terraces--

Taken by yours truly! :D

Cheers!
